MiNT and Phan celebrate victory - 31st Aug 2008 23:58
Tonight saw the conclusion of the Rustlers GameSafe Tournaments
with two thrilling finals as the destiny of the £1000 cash
prizes and bulging goodie bags were decided in the headline Call of
Duty 4 5v5 and Counter-Strike: Source competitions.
In Call of Duty 4 there was a shock winner as Phantasmagoria
(formerly known as Origin) defeated pre-tournament favourites 4Kings
13-7. A storm first set of rounds saw Phan leading 9-3 at the swap
and though 4K produced a better effort in the second set they
couldn't recover the situation.
Over in Counter-Strike:
Source land there was more luck for the much fancied London MiNT
as the professional gaming side, ranked amongst the best in the
world, survived a few scares in the second set of rounds to claim a
16-9 victory. MiNT had lead 7-0 at one stage only for their opponents
infused to storm back, but alas it was too much for infused to do as
despite splitting the last 18 rounds 9-9 they still lost out.
Both Phantasmagoria and London MiNT walk away with £1000 in
cash and a GameSafe Kit which includes a mini-fridge, mini-microwave,
Saitek peripherals, a Rustlers T-Shirt and a 6 month supply of
burgers for the five lucky team members that won the final.
Demos of both games and some recorded video will be available
shortly.

Final Week of Rustlers Tournaments Begins - 26th Aug 2008 00:03
Bank Holiday Monday saw the qualifying stages of the Rustlers CoD
4 Free For All tournament take place, giving us our eight finalists
for Wednesday evening.
Wednesday will also bring with it the entire 70 Second Shipment
Challenge competition. This fast & furious event will see players
having just 70 seconds, the time it takes to heat a Rustlers, to
build their score over the qualifying stages with the Top 2 from each
group progressing to the final later in the night.
Before all that the Call of Duty 4 and the Counter-Strike: Source
team events enter their Quarter-Final stages on Tuesday. A number of
the best and brightest from the UK gaming go head to head to reach
the Final Four of their respective events with SourceTV of the CSS
games giving you the chance to watch the matches as they take place.
More details can be found in #gamesafe.jolt on QuakeNet IRC,
whilst you can read reviews of the latest matches in our GameSafe
Forums.
Call of Duty 4 Team Tournament set to start - 20th Aug 2008 07:27
Tonight brings with it the first of the CoD 4 5v5 matches, three
pre-qualifying fixtures to get us down to the first-round proper.
Some mouthwatering games are in prospect over the next 10 days as a
small by competitive field face-off for the tasty prizes on offer.
Meanwhile the CSS 5v5 competition is in full swing with the
conclusion of the first round and the opening second-round fixtures
also taking place this evening. Round 2 will be completed on Thursday
leaving the remaining rounds for next week. So far it's been fairly
smooth progress for the big hitters but the level of competition will
be ramped up now that the weaker sides have been eliminated.
You can read mini-reviews of some of these initial matches in the
competition
forum.
The CoD 4 FFA tournament will begin on Bank Holiday Monday (the
25th) and conclude on Wednesday the 27th. The
70 second Shipment Challenge will also take place on that Wednesday.
Groups for both tournaments will be live later today.

Tonight's sees the start of the Rustlers GameSafe Tournaments as
the first matches in the Counter-Strike: Source team event get

There are two games schedule for this evening which we hope to
bring your Source TV coverage of, the winners progressing to the main
32-team draw section of the tournament.
More details will be available in #gamesafe.jolt on
QuakeNet IRC around the time of the matches – 7.30pm BST.
Tournament Update - 10th Aug 2008 08:05
Finalised participant lists are now available and draw &
fixtures will be following soon.
The Call of Duty 4 individual tournaments will each take place on
a single night towards the end of this month – probably the
last week of August. Players will be given significant advance notice
of the dates so they can arrange to be available for the
evening.
The Counter-Strike Source tournament will begin this
coming week, probably on Thursday the 14th.
The Call of Duty 4 Team event will begin the following
Monday/Tuesday.
Registration Date Extended - 28th Jul 2008 17:19
Though registrations have been brisk we've decided to extend the
deadline for players & teams to register until Sunday 3rd
August though this may itself be extended further depending on
the level of signups at this time.
We've also received queries regarding LAN events taking place in
August. We're aware of one big UK event over the 8th to
11th so we will avoid scheduling matches at this time as a
number of players and admins for this tournament will be attending.
I'd also like to emphasise that we will ensure that Call of Duty 4
players can participate in all competitions as they will not clash in
their running order so players are welcome to register for all three
tournaments.
Registrations Live - 22nd Jul 2008 20:03
Registrations are now being accepted for all four Rustlers
GameSafe tournaments.
Teams and players can apply to join the competition by following
the links on the right-hand menu and submitting the required details
with the closing date for applications being Wednesday 30th
July. The matches will begin during the first week of August but
please remember you can only take part in these tournaments if you
are based in the UK!
The initial rules for the competitions are also available to look
over. These regulations have been drawn up largely based on the
leading European leagues so there shouldn't be too many surprises but
we'd welcome any comments that teams may have as we want to ensure
all sides enjoy the best possible experience whilst battling away for
the fantastic prizes on offer.
Should you have any questions regarding the tournaments feel free
to email the GameSafe Admin
. You can also discuss the competition on our Rustlers
GameSafe forum.
